Green Weak
A misleading name for Deuteranomaly.
The name derives probably from the red-green opponent channel, which is – by definition – skewed permanently to the red side in Deutans.
“Green Weak” infers that the M-Cones in Deuteranomals are someone less sensitive, which is not true. While a weakened M-Cone could theoretically cause a deutan defect, there is not a known mechanism of Deuteranomaly. M*-Opsins are not less sensitive than M-Opsins, they simply have a different Peak Wavelength, which effectively decreases the maximum amplitudes of the red-green Opponent Channel.
“Green Weak” also infers that the individual sees greens as darker, though it is generally blues & cyans that are more attenuated in Deuteranomals. They also don’t see the majority of green as white, black, gray, or transparent.
