One of 5 classes of visual Opsins in vertebrates, which includes the S-Opsin in humans. The peak wavelengths in this class range from 355-450nm and are therefore sometimes referred to as ‘UV/Violet’ cones, despite being the class of the humans’ ‘blue’ cone (S-cone).
