or more specifically CIE L*a*b*; A Color Space of the CIE 1976 Color Model that is an update of the CIEXYZ Color Space. It contains all of the colors that are visible to the Standard Observer. Unlike CIEXYZ, it is intended to be Perceptually Uniform. It is similar to CIELUV – published at the same time – but it is recommended for subtractive colors (printing, paints, dyes, etc.).
