Neutral Point
The point, line or plane in a Color Space that is white or gray according to the Equal Energy definition of White. The neutral point occurs:
- In LMS or RGB Color Space when all values are equal.
- In HSV or HSL Color Space when the Saturation/Chroma is zero.
- In CIEXYZ Color Space at [X, Y] = [1/3, 1/3].
For Trichromats, a 3D Color Space has a Neutral Line and a Chromaticity Diagram has a Neutral Point. For Dichromats, a 3D Color Space has a Neutral Plane and a corresponding Chromaticity Diagram has a Neutral Line. The Neutral Line is equal to the Confusion Line that intersects the Trichromatic Neutral Point (defined in CIEXYZ above). For Protanopes and Deuteranopes, the Neutral Line runs through Cyan, which is perceived as white/gray. For Tritanopes, this line runs through yellow, which is perceived as white/gray.
Also White Point.
