Optometrist
A profession that specializes in prescribing corrective lenses and diagnosis of common eye diseases, defects or abnormalities. This is one type of Eye Doctor, but is not a medical doctor. They generally have 8 years of post-secondary education. A course in Color Vision is generally presented as an option, not part of the core curriculum. While most Optometrists are competent enough to administer a Colorblindness test and recommend or dispense Color Correction Lenses, complicated cases or interpretation of colorblindness is likely out of their scope.
