Unilateral Colorblindness

A CVD affecting only one eye (or one eye more than the other).

  • For Genetic CVD, Unilateral Colorblindness is very rare and suggests some form of Chimerism.
  • For Acquired CVD, Unilateral Colorblindness can arise from trauma to a single eye (e.g. exposure to a laser), or can be a sign of a serious underlying cause, e.g. a tumor on the optic nerve (though this is also very rare).
